WSP: 500+ drivers pulled over under new distracted driving law
Washington State Patrol says it's pulled over 510 individual drivers spotted driving while using electronics since mid-July.
Troopers have issued 145 tickets since the law was enacted two weeks ago. They've also given verbal or written warnings to 465 drivers.
Since drivers are still in the six-month grace period, they're not required to pay fines unless they're caught doing something else illegal when they're being pulled over.
A similar law in Oregon goes into effect in October.
