Sen. Wyden on ICE: 'I'm going to stay on it 'til we get it changed'
Oregon Senator Ron Wyden is among the lawmakers who is vowing to put more pressure on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Wyden recently joined other state lawmakers in touring a federal prison in Sheridan, Ore. where more than 100 ICE detainees are being held. He also worked to get those detainees access to immigration attorneys.
On Sunday’s edition of “Your Voice, Your Vote,” he sat down with KATU’s Steve Dunn to talk about the immigration fight.
“What I’m going to do as the ranking Democrat on the Finance Committee and a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, is bring as much heat to the agency as I can. I’m going to stay on it ‘til we get it changed,” he said.
Sen. Wyden also shares his views on the open Supreme Court seat, and the talk of his fellow Senator Jeff Merkley’s possible run for the White House in 2020.
