PORTLAND, Ore. – Rose City fans already have the Trail Blazers, the Thorns, and the Timbers, so should Portland swing for the fences to bring a Major League Baseball team to town?

Sports journalist Dwight Jaynes and Pacific University professor Jules Boykoff joined Your Voice, Your Vote to talk about the pros and cons of a Portland baseball team.

The conversation comes as a group of investors has lined up two possible stadium sites.

But would a team be worth the public expense?

“It's an interesting Portland reaction to the situation, it's very Portland. They want it, but they don't want to pay for it,” said Jaynes.

They also dig deep into the pitch from a group called The Portland Diamond Project, which is looking to build the stadium, what the group is promising, and the big unknowns that remain for the city.
