Your Voice, Your Vote: Calls for rent control in Portland

Portland City Commissioner Chloe Eudaly sits down with KATU's Lincoln Graves to talk about the local rent control crisis

One of the biggest things left undone by the Oregon legislature is addressing the rent crisis.

In this week’s edition of “Your Voice, Your Vote” we speak to Portland City Commissioner Chloe Eudaly, who says she'll continue fighting for rent control.

"I talk to a lot of people who are against rent control, think it doesn't work, and then I tell them that a landlord can raise rents 100 percent, 200 percent, and their response to me is 'isn't that against the law?' and I have to explain, 'no, that's rent control.' Without rent control, landlords can raise your rent as much as they want, as many times as they want," Eudaly said.

We’ll cover what actions that the city can take to help give renters more stability.
