Kara Mack

Kara Mack is the host of KATU’s “Afternoon Live” airing every day at 2 p.m. A versatile broadcaster, she brings her past experiences of feature, entertainment and sports reporting to a lifestyle show that covers it all. Born and raised right here in Portland, Kara loves she has a job that allows her to experience all the Northwest has to offer and share the passions of local people.

Kara graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies and concentration in Broadcasting. While there, she began interning and producing for WNDU, the NBC affiliate in South Bend. She then moved to Missoula, Montana as an anchor and reporter before coming back home and working here at KATU for AM Northwest in 2002.

Kara and her husband, Travis, have four young children, twin identical boys and two girls, who keep life extra exciting off air! From volleyball to tennis to cards, she loves to play just about everything. In her spare time, you can catch her coaching her kids’ sports, tackling crazy family outdoor adventures, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and literally running around.
