Ricardo Lewis joined the KATU News team in May 2023 as a General Assignment Reporter.
Before making the move to Portland, he worked for KATU's sister station CBS Austin as a Multimedia Journalist/Fill-In Anchor. Ricardo has also reported for WSAV in Savannah, Georgia, and KSFY in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He started his news career as an Associate Producer at KCWI in West Des Moines, Iowa.
His reporting has covered the story of Ahmaud Arbery, the George Floyd protests in 2020, and the highly watched 2021 Georgia Senate runoff election. Ricardo has also spent time looking into the housing crisis, homelessness, and renters' rights. He's also covered major weather events whether that be snow, hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, or flooding.
Ricardo was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication. While in Ames, he was a member of the Iowa State COED cheerleading team.
After long winters in the Midwest and blazing hot summers in the South, Ricardo is excited to explore the Pacific Northwest telling stories that are important to Oregon and Washington.
