Savannah Welch

Savannah Welch joined the KATU News team in July 2022 as a General Assignment Reporter and is thrilled to be reporting in the beautiful PNW!

She comes to Portland from KATU's sister station, KBAK/KBFX-TV in Bakersfield, CA where she worked for a year as a reporter, fill-in anchor and forecaster.

Savannah grew up in San Diego but is originally from Kansas City. She received her bachelor's degree in media production with an emphasis in film and design from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, and she received her M.S. in journalism from the University of Southern California.

Savannah is a trained classical pianist and loves to sing any number of Broadway show tunes! She's been to over 18 countries, even performing in a musical during her time in London. When she's not reporting, she's either traveling, playing piano, or finding a new trail to hike.
